How do I get a real estate license? You must be 18 years or older and complete sixty (60) hours of real estate education of which thirty (30) classroom hours must be in the basic principles of real estate, from an accredited postsecondary school or a school or organization licensed by the Arkansas State Board of Private Career Education.  You must pass the licensure examination and send the proper forms and fees to the Arkansas Real Estate Commission no later than ninety (90) days after passing the examination.  You can get more detailed instructions at the AREC website.  http://www.state.ar.us/arec/arecweb.html How much does the basic real estate salesperson course cost? The pre-license real estate salesperson course is offered online only.  The cost is $495.00. What if I have to miss a day or drop the class?  Can I still receive my certificate or get a refund? Students are expected to attend all scheduled classes.  An absence may be excused only in the event of an emergency.  A student missing more than one day will be terminated and must reapply for the next class.  Students who drop out because of illness, transfer, etc. may receive a partial refund.  See the terms and policies for the complete absence and refund policies. I want to take a correspondence course.  How do I get my materials? Due to AREC regulations, BSRE no longer offers correspondene courses.  Pre-License and CE courses are now offered online.  CE courses will be offered in a classroom setting based on demand. Yes.  A salesperson must complete 18 hours of post licensing within one year of completing the exam and must complete 6 hours annually after that to keep the license active.  A broker must complete 30 hours of post licensing education within one year of completing the broker’s exam and also complete 6 hours of continuing education annually.  Learn more about our post licensing courses. How much does a real estate license cost? The Arkansas Real Estate Commission charges a $50.00 application fee.  There is also State background check for $22.00, a federal background check for $19.25 and a $75.00 exam fee to Pearson Vue.  Upon completion of the exam, The salesperson license fee is $50.00 and a one time Recovery Fund fee of $25.00. Do I have to have a background check? Yes, State and Federal. How do I get a broker’s license?
